Magrath Elementary School 2025 Science Fair

It's time to start getting ready for our Grade 4-6 students—the Magrath Elementary School 2025 Science Fair! 

Who Can Participate?
All Grade 4-6 students are invited to participate in our school-based science fair. This is an excellent opportunity for them to delve into various aspects of science, technology, math, and engineering. The projects can be undertaken individually or in partnerships, offering students the chance to explore their interests with autonomy (with parental support and supervision, of course).

Not only does participation in our school's science fair contribute to personal growth and learning, but it also opens the door for eligible students to enter the Lethbridge Regional Science Fair (Sci-Fusion), held each spring in Lethbridge.

When and Where?
Tuesday, March 18, 2025 in the MHS Black Box Theatre. Prizes will be awarded at a celebration assembly.

How to Get Started?
The Science Fair Guide provided to students and parents offers a comprehensive overview of planning, preparing, and presenting a project. From different project types (study/research, innovation/invention, experiment) to the scientific method and designing a project display, the guide ensures a smooth and enriching experience.

Students are encouraged to pick a project question that intrigues them, follow the scientific method, and document their journey in a logbook. The guide also provides tips for presenting their findings and what judges will be looking for during the event.

Getting Involved and Registration
Registration this year is online. Please fill out the Google Form. If you are in need of more information, please contact Mrs. Amanda Thomson at the school.

Judging and Recognition
The projects will be evaluated based on a Judging Rubric, emphasizing project display, scientific method and research, and student presentation. Judges will be looking for clear communication, passion for the project, and the application of the scientific method.

We encourage parents to attend the fair, celebrate their child's achievements, and gain insights into the fascinating world of student-led scientific inquiry.
